Let me start by expressing my immense gratitude to Margaret for letting me make this post, and especially all her invaluable help and guidance with a small new venture of mine. My name is Richard Laidler, and I'm based in North-East England, not far from Barnard Castle.
For a number of years I have run a small artwork reproduction business "Middleton Photo Services", supplying artists with reproductions of their paintings as high-quality giclee-printed cards and prints. I have the great privilege of having the authority of three of my clients to reproduce their work and sell it on my own account. Back at the beginning of the year I had the idea of seeing if the production of jigsaw puzzles was viable, as one of my clients in particular - Gina Morton - has painted several stunning pictures which I felt would make excellent jigsaws. Initially, my research pointed at it not being a practical project unless I was prepared to commission a huge production run - something I don't have the banker's clout for!
I was almost on the point of abandoning the idea when I came across this club. Several telephone conversations with Margaret later, the first two of my Fine Art Jigsaw Puzzles are now available (link below). I plan to introduce others in the coming months.
I must also acknowledge the terrific help and encouragement I've received from Richard Booth of Ryco Crafts whose company manufactures these puzzles for me.
